Hi friend,

This cream cheese-y goodness is a staple in our household. If I’m asked to bring something snack-y to a get together, this is my go-to choice (or sometimes it’s a request!). It only takes a few simple ingredients, and is super quick and easy to make.

The last time I made these, my husband joked and said “Great, now I can eat all of them tonight!” if that tells you anything about how well-loved this recipe is. He may have said it jokingly, but I promise there was only self-control for my sake. I could have easily not had any for myself. 😂

Equipment

I mixed this by hand for years, completely forgetting about my KitchenAid mixer until my husband mentioned using it. Learn from my lengthy mistake…don’t waste your energy mixing by hand if you can avoid it. Mixing the cream cheese can require some elbow grease depending on how soft you get it – it’s doable, but my KitchenAid effortlessly combines the ingredients in less than two minutes!

A Few Ingredient Notes

It’s up to you, but I try to make easy, “healthier” choices when I can – one of these is using 1/3 less fat cream cheese in place of regular cream cheese. I almost always use the 1/3 less fat unless it’s not available at the grocery store.

The amount of ham is really up to your taste. I usually use about four to five slices of the thinly sliced lunch meat, but I really just eyeball it. It’s easy enough to add more if you mix the ingredients together and feel like there isn’t enough meat to balance things out.

Buy the smallest bag of burrito tortillas that you can find – for me, that’s the eight count one. You won’t use all of them! I can actually double this recipe and still not need more than one bag of tortillas.

The next time you need a fresh idea for a cookout, tailgate, school lunch, or picnic – give these a try and let me know what you think!

Ham & Cheese Pinwheels

The perfect grab and go finger food for tailgating, cookouts, lunch boxes, or road trips. Quick and easy to throw together and they're a hit every time!
Servings: 30 pinwheels
Course: Appetizer, Snack

Ingredients

  • 16 oz cream cheese
  • 4-5 slices honey ham lunch meat
  • 1 bunch green onions chopped
  • 2 cups Mexican style four cheese shredded cheese finely shredded
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix
  • 1 bag burrito flour tortillas 8 count

Method

Prep the ingredients:
  1. Soften cream cheese packets
  2. Rip the ham into small pieces
  3. This is key! I have had pinwheels with solid slices of ham in them and the flavors are so much more balanced when you take the time to do this step.
  4. Clean the green onions and chop the green part of the stalk to include in the pinwheels
Combine:
  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl until everything is thoroughly mixed together. Avoid clumps of a single ingredient congregating in one spot of the cream cheese.
  2. I use my Kitchen Aid mixer to save my arm and make this part go by way quicker! Use a large fork to combine ingredients otherwise.
Assemble:
  1. Spread the mixture thickly and evenly on a tortilla, cut into slices, and store in the refrigerator.
  2. The end slices typically don't end up looking very nice for serving, so those usually end up in a separate bag for a snack if I'm bringing these to a get together.
